Never to be Told

words and music by Benjamin Coy

2000 – Benjamin Coy

There is the room where I learned to play guitar in
There is the town where I played my first song
That was the place where I first told you I loved you
Then I left, and became all alone
Of all of the people, I’ve met in my 20 some years
No one’s ever broken into me
Maybe you’re an omen, or maybe just a sign
That I’ve changed from who I used to be
--and you saw me, like so many wished that they’d be seen
by someone who could see into their soul
But if our sanctuaries can never be opened
Then our lives are never to be told—
Somebody told me that we are all connected
That we’re unguarded in our humanity
And if that’s true, I think that I should love you
If that is something you should want from me
--and you saw me, like so many wished that they’d be seen
by someone who could see into their soul
But if our sanctuaries can never be opened
Then our lives are never to be told--
-And if I tried to sell you something that I never owned well I’m sorry
Will you let me in? because I want to be let in
To open up myself…
--and you saw me, like so many wished that they’d be seen
by someone who could see into their soul
But if our sanctuaries can never be opened
Then our lives are never to be told—
